Not only ideal destinations for an holiday in contact with nature, but also for trekking lovers who want to go for long walks and for schools thanks to the numerous proposals for educational tourism. The most interesting areas include regional parks such as the Parco Pineta and the Spina Verde Park, the Parco Lambro Valley, the Adda Nord Park, the Parco Monte Barro and Curone Park, in the Brianza’s hills and the Northern Grigna Park, in the heart of Valsassina. In addition to the regional parks, however, we can’t mention the nature reserves, authentic Como’s Lake pearl characterized by a great variety of flora and fauna. One such organization is the reserve of Pian di Spagna which dominates the Upper Lake, to which are added small areas but not least as nice as the one at Lake Sartirana and reserve Malascarpa

Thanks to its “border” position the Lake has been, over the centuries, a very strategic military point. There are a lot of examples of this role thanks to the presence of several castles and forts dating back to different periods, from the Middle Ages up to the beginning of '900 with the two world wars. Most were built in difficult places, directly behind the lake where is often not easily accessible, but they offering unique landscape’s views and an atmosphere that give a strong suggestion as to imagine the territory historic events in the course of history.
